I moved to Fort Smith Arkansas in 1998 from Austin, Texas and worked a few odd jobs while trying to get my foot in the door at a tattoo/piercing studio. I started my piercing career in 2001 at a local street shop working the front counter and learning what I could about body piercing and the business in general. After a little over 3 years of working for someone who didn't care about anything but money, I left the street shop, and , with the help of some good friends, decided to open my own piercing studio and raise the bar in Fort Smith for quality body piercing. This is how Southtown Tattoo and Body Piercing Studio was born. In a town of about 80,000 people, me and my crew of piercing artists have worked hard at educating the public about safe piercing practices and proper use of the correct jewlery used in all initial piercings. I loves doing surface piercings and I am also slowly working on my branding portfolio. August 2011 will mark my 10th year as a professional body piercer. And as far as I am concerned, the learning has only just begun. I have two great friends working with me, and I learn alot from having two other piercers around me. Someone told me that after you have been piercing for 10 years, you will realize that you don't know "jack". So, now that I'm finally hitting that wall, I am working on learning new techniques and trying to branch out and do different, more exotic piercings, and learning what I can to further my skills and give the public the best experience that I can.
We were the first studio to be licensed in the state of Arkansas for branding. I have done several brandings on people, and would like to do more. It's still not very popular in this state, so it's a slow going process. But if you're interested in getting a brand, come in and speak with me about your idea and we'll go from there.
